who is at the helm?
Considering X is heading big business group in India and group has multiple companies in automobile, chemicals, steel, IT and finance sector. However being owner of bellwether he has to delegate power to many people who are almost as powerful as the owner, although in the ambit of individual companies which they head. In doing so i.e. delegating power, isn't parent owner risking his reputation as these so called heads of individual companies may go wrong and impact group's reputation? Or it is imperative that these companies should be treated as individual firms with their own future and reputation being in the hands of people who are at the helm of these companies?

Woh din ab door nahi .....for Media poster boys and girls.
Well, To understand the title assume the situation such that Arnab Goswami, Rohul Kaul or Barkha Dutt being interviewed on every news channel about their personal life becuase they did something wrong.
I was watching NDTV show called "Left and Right" hosted by another poster girl of Media Ms. Nidhi Rajdhan. Actress Kiron Kher was replying to question by Nidhi Rajdhan about some celebrity persons turning media on their side in Maoist region. Nidhi was essentially saying Celebrities (Films Peronalities, Sports Stars, politician and et al) make use of Media for their own benefits and Mrs. Kher rightly said that in India most powerful persons are Media and Politicians "in power" and not the celebrities especially film and sport celebrities. Mrs. Kher argued that Media is making all this hulla-hu by showing celebrity more than required on the screen and victimising them to exercise their power in this democratic nation. She re-questioned why Barkha Dutt, Arnab Goswami, Rajdeep Sardesai and likes of them do show worthless things on their shows like footage of celebrity coming out of house, going in the house et cetera making them larger than life for a moment. These TV Media starts know very well that they themselves are celebrity as we all. I am sure they will never like to be shown like that and or will never like to be talked about their own personal things.
What I think is that News Media has traveled in full 360 degrees circle now and the day is not far when some news anchor will be cornered and exposed with the same vigour on all the television shows making them fall in the pit they dug for others.
Names of Barkha Dutt, Rahul Kaul and Arnab Goswami above are just for the sake of this blog and I am proud viewer of their news anchoring like most of the Indians.

Ranga Panchami or Holi or Both?
I happened to visit my Tai's place and there started a discussion that tomorrow ( 1st March)they will be playing colours. But in our State this day (a day after Full moon day) is celebrated as Dhulwad ( mud flinging literally :-P )and festival of colours on fifth day (i.e. 5th March this year) since last 100 years at least. We stay in Maharashtra and contrary to our schedule, festival of colour is celebrated on Holi day itself in North India. In addition to this, perception changing bollywood fraternity also plays colours on Holi. Now having said above things, there are lot of people who migrated from North India and equal number of Maharashtrian who follow filmi people started playing colours on Holi day in Pune.
Obviously local people who are following tradition of Ranga Panchami since ages got bemused as to when to celebrate this wonderful festival actually as this is the celebration where people come together forgetting religion, gender and age ( too idealistic thought of me :-) ). Adding to this confusion is official holiday declared by Government, schools and offices on the day of Holi and not on Ranga Panchami.
Can anybody clear me as to what the logic is because i dont find anybody as confused as me over the last five years? Not a single political party who shouts from the ( in marathi we call it as Benbichya DeThapasana ) inner of his stomach for the cause of Marathi people have taken this issue. May be they have exempted this issue intelligently like other issues such as name of premiere institute IIT Bombay ( At least i never heard any party protesting against this name and is on fast unto death to change it to IIT Mumbai) because it is out of their reach.
Oh, O O....O let me get out of Politics, i dont want to make it issue but just want to have single day where everybody can mingle with others and not stay at home confused :-o . Also people need not waste their clothes and take extra care twice in a week since colour mongers are in legion here.
Somebody has said to be at extremes is always beneficial. How?
People who really want to play colours play on both days and who hate to play keep away always !

Halwa (Substitute for tilgul?)
Halwa is also made up of sesame
धन्यवाद महेंद्रजी

what you sow, so shall you reap?
I was off the blog for long time, but today's news made me move my butt and support the truth when i saw very humble Chetan Bhagat asking for his own child. Yes "5 point someone " is kidnapped by Vidhu and Aamir and now they are saying it doesn't belong to chetan by renaming it as 3 idiots. LOL, they are not ready to come out and say that its Vidhu's child or Aamir's child.
Times Now anchor Arnab rightly called Vidhu's behaviou as heidous when journalist asked him about story of book. Producers are generally ethics-less and it has proved again when Vidhu did not give enough credits to Chetan and was weighing everything in terms of money. Also in the interview was film critic Bhavan who looked so dumb that she was asking Chetan to go to Writers Association when book rights are with Chetan himself and was accusing him for going to media for publicity when infact Media came to his house asking for participation in debate.
Now coming to movie, it is such a worthless and unintellectual movie, i thought, as same things ( as in book) are shown from point of view of primary students ( and not of 5 pointers). It is doing well in India because there are 78% people who are not literate and their mentality is still like primary child.
Chetan was saying right when he said that Aamir unnecessarily is getting himself involved in this. Great actor like him, is trying to take cudgels on behalf of his producer but i hope he will not go ahead and become martyr for undeserved king. Five point someone is really nice book and testimony to it is that, many of Engineering students ( past and current) hv read it in one go and given best credits to it.
Hope to see good things turn out for Chetan and all.
Wishing you all Happy new year 2010 !!!

Up to the mark!

Shreyasi Bhattacharya from West Bengal is Sa re ga ma Little champ contestant who stunned us ( me & Vrinda ) in her first performance on Zee TV with a song from Roja .... Ye hasin waadiyaan, ye khula aasmaan ..... and today she peaked her performance with another Rehmaan's song from Rangeela .... Hai Rama ye kya hua, tum kaise humein sataane lage ..... Mentors Alakaji and Abhijitda have found true talent.
She is very perfect and can sing any song ditto. Wish her all the best to become successful play-back singer and reach the heights more than this.

CEO
Well, this blog is written when I was part time teaching at Sinhgad business school. One of the students asked me what is the meaning of phrase 'Horse's Mouth' as he was regularly reading sports section article by this name in Marathi daily 'Sakal' and he was not well versed with English phrases. I did answer him but somewhere i was still not satisfied with myself as I could not really cite an example that will make it more clear. I was looking for realizing meaning of this phrase 'Horse's Mouth' subconsciously whole day and was looking out for example - doing my chores in the office. I had no sooner read Cybage CEO Arun's newsletter than I was glee with satisfaction. I had realized the meaning of Horse's mouth.
His newsletters stating the facts about Company's performance are really studded with gr8 examples, very lucid and rich language and praise of the right people. Such personal writings about organization from owner makes employee feel closer to happenings in organization as against to large organizations where CEO is merely a post. CEO's of large organization talk more of what management board has to say and not what they want to say. Sad but true fact it that CEO's of big organizations worry more about their own position and image, board consensus, stock prices but hardly about customer satisfaction and employee welfare.
